After the king's death, there were disputes as to who was to rule the land, and they led to fighting. Finally war began, and four mighty forces wanted to control the whole kingdom. The first,The Army of Evergreen, was the original army of the kingdom, and the based their forces in the mighty fortress, located at the center of the kingdom. The second, The League of Sorcerers, who were mysterious and led a chaotic life, based their forces on a dormant volcano. This area is located to the far north, and has great pools of lava. The third force, The Elven Army, who were once banished from the kingdom, now returns with hopes for revenge. Their base is located in the mountains in the northwestern region of the land. The final force was the Barbarians, who once lived at the edges of the kingdom, now aims to demolish everything before them. Their base is on an island to the southeast. Evergreen was in constant warfare for several hundred years, and the forces of Arm and Core arrived. Seeing that the kingdom was extremely rich with resources, they decided to build outposts on the planet. Seeing that it was impossible to construct a base from scratch on the planet, the Arm and Core finally decided to offer their robotic technologies to the four forces in exchange for protected areas where they can mine the minerals of the planet. As a commander of any of the four forces, you are to find a way to conquer the kingdom. You have at your disposal various fightings machines obtained from the Arm and Core, and you will fight without mercy. Be warned commander, you are to win at all costs, or you will be annihilated like the rest... Description/basic info- First of all, I have to comment on the mechanics of the map. When you first play, you might notice that the water level of both the ocean and the lake seems to be too low. There is a reason for this. One, if you have ever made a map with this tileset, you should know that the water level depends the type of map, if it has large bodies of water, the water level should be high, if it has lava areas, then the water level should be much lower. Well, this map has both, so I took an average, that's why the water level seems low at the coasts. Two, if I keep the water level high and edit the whole lava section, or if I keep the water level low and edit ALL the coasts, then the heights would be much more worse. And even though I tried to take the best average, I still had to edit large sections of the map (such as small rivers, lava transition, lava coast...). The best thing of all is that it DOES NOT effect gameplay. Also, with a low water level, you can actually see a difference between the two large bodies of water, the lighter colored lake is shallower (your commander's head will be out of the water), and the dark green sea is deeper. If you ever make a map with evergreen, trust me, DO NOT make one with both lava areas and large bodies of water. Well, since the water level seems low, you can comfort yourself by saying... "that area's not underwater, it's just wet" or "it's better that way, ships can't get to shallow water" or "hey look, low tide!" What I'm trying to say is, please try and ignore these areas and enjoy the rest of the map. Now that you know the bad stuff, it's time to talk about the good stuff. This map is amazing in many ways. The layout, in my opinion, is a one of a kind. The graphics are astounding. Every area of the map is unique in its own way, leading to many different possible ways of playing. And of course, there are many special areas on the map, here is a list of some: -The castle - this is the first ever real castle. Unlike other maps which only has a walled area, the walls here actually surround a castle. The top of the castle is metal rich. -The gardens - right outside of the castles, it's always nice to take a walk through them. -The holy island - this island is the site where an ancient religion was started, it is divided into two sections. They have been abandoned for a long time, and wild plants, has covered up the sites of worship. -The mysterious forest - a very dense forest located in the mountains which is rich with resources. (a pyro's paradise) -The forgotten island - base of the Barbarians, this island has been surrounded with a wall piled up with large rocks. The waters off the coast of this island are rich with minerals. There are several other places that are worth mentioning, but I'll leave the story of them for your own imagination... Requirements- A minimum of 64 MB of RAM is recommended TACC is required Lateset version of TAMEC.hpi must be installed (current version is v11.0) Installation- extract all files into your default TA directory. Files that should have been extracted are: 1000ad.ufo - main map file 1000ad.txt - readme file 1000ad.bmp - radar image Multiplayer- this map can support up to 4 players, and each of the starting positions is very different, so for the best game, I suggest you play with a random starting position. Team play should be very interesting. You can team up anyway you want, and each combination will offer a very different game.
